Meet the Surgeon
Dr. Aniruddh Agrawal
A spine surgeon who trained across three continents, combining global expertise with a commitment to the least invasive approach that delivers the best result.
Dr. Aniruddh Agrawal is a highly trained spine surgeon specialising in endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques. Having trained across India, the United Kingdom, and North America, he brings world-class expertise to patients in Mumbai and Guwahati.
Dr. Agrawal has completed a fellowship at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff — a Level 1 Trauma Centre and the largest spine centre in Wales — where he worked alongside both neurosurgeons and orthopaedic spine surgeons, and helped the institute adopt endoscopic surgery.
He believes spine surgery should be the last resort — and when surgery is needed, it should be performed with the smallest incision possible, the fastest recovery, and the highest precision.
An active researcher with 26 peer-reviewed publications, two patents, and chapters in Gray's Surgical Anatomy, Dr. Agrawal's practice is built on evidence that he has personally contributed to creating.
International Training
Dr. Agrawal's International Experience
Formal training at leading spine centres across three continents, learning from some of the world's foremost authorities on minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery.
Fellowship in Neurosurgical & Orthopaedic Spine — University Hospital of Wales
Dr. Agrawal trained at the largest spine trauma centre in Wales, working alongside both neurosurgeons and orthopaedic spine surgeons in a combined fellowship programme. During his time there he helped the institute adopt and develop endoscopic spine surgery, contributing to both clinical care and research output.
With Prof. Ruetten — Germany
Time spent at St. Anne Hospital, Herne, learning advanced endoscopic techniques directly from Prof. Sebastian Ruetten, one of the world's leading pioneers in full-endoscopic spine surgery.
With Prof. Lim — Cadaver Labs
Hands-on cadaveric training with Dr. Kang Taek Lim, refining endoscopic spine skills in a laboratory environment to achieve the precision required for clinical practice.
With Dr. Burch — UCSF, San Francisco
Observership with Dr. Shane Burch, Director of Fellowship at the University of California San Francisco, focusing on spinal navigation and minimally invasive deformity correction techniques.

Why Endoscopic?
Advantages of Endoscopic Spine Surgery
A paradigm shift in spine care — achieving the same surgical goals with a fraction of the disruption to your body.
Minimally Invasive
Only small incisions are required, reducing recovery time and minimising scarring compared to traditional open surgery.
Reduced Pain
Patients experience significantly less post-operative pain — muscle tissue is preserved, not cut through.
Faster Recovery
Most patients return to daily activities much sooner — often within a week for disc procedures.
Lower Infection Risk
Smaller incisions mean a substantially reduced risk of surgical site infection and wound complications.
High Precision
Advanced imaging and a high-definition endoscopic camera allow precise targeting of the affected area.
Day Case Possible
Many endoscopic procedures can be performed as day cases, eliminating unnecessary overnight hospital stays.
Muscle Preservation
The technique avoids cutting through muscle, preserving core strength and long-term spinal function.
Enhanced Visualisation
Endoscopic tools provide a magnified, clear view of the surgical site — often better than the naked eye in open surgery.
